Iowa Parks Visitor Reviews

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Not a State Park - This is not a state park. It is a state preserve. Just an FYI for anyone thinking it is a park. It is a very rugged preserve of natural land no outhouses or park facilities.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars rip off - It might be a good idea to at least put notice on the fee collection post to let people know the park is closed. We took a trip to the park today, only to pay the $5.00 fee, then find out the park was closed. What a waste.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Wilderness in the big city - We loved it. One trail was a bit hard to find....you need to cross the ravine it is dry and there are 2 concrete pipes you need to cross...this is well before the huge staircase.....You feel like you are in a large wilderness. We will definitely go back. Beautiful....we really enjoyed the fall colors.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars - Have lived in the area for many years and have been pleased to watch it evolve to what it is today. Unfortunately, on my recent visit August 9, 2020, the garbage was unbelievable. Spilling out of the cans and scattered all over both front shelters - grounds and tables. In this time of covid and distancing, I was meeting a friend there and bringing coffee to be outside and social distance. It was very disappointing and unfortunate. Hoping this was an isolated incident and has been cleaned up.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Horrible customer service - We rented two camp sites for seven people 2 adults and 5 kids. We adhered to the two tents/4 people per site rule. However, the DNR counted one of our tents as three tents, simply because it was three single person dome tents That connect together, and made us rent a third site. The worst part was how rude the lady was. She wouldnt even listen to me when I tried to show her the tent bag, indicating it was one tent. She acted as if we were criminals. Since there was NO two way conversation allowed, I indicated that we would pay for the extra site but would never be back, at which point she said Thats fine. Worst customer service ever Three sites for 2 adults and five kids. Really I dont recommend this place at all There are way better places to stay in the Okoboji area

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Disc golf - They need to install the disc golf course again. The park was used and enjoyed by so many people until they removed the old course.
10/7/2018 3:14:45 PM Lake of Three Fires State Park
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Great Fishing and hunting - A friend of mine and I went fishing on the lake and had very good luck. We stayed 4 nights. The Park Ranger was an excellent source of information about where to fish and what bait to use. He was very friendly and accommodating. We also wanted to do a little squirrel hunting and he directed us to a nearby open area and recommended a likely spot. Again we had good luck. Having the Park Ranger as a resource at Three Fires Lake made the trip for us.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Memories - I remember it being such a pretty little lake when I was a kid growing up in Mondamin. Wish it could be brought back to being a nice fishing lake.
