Wellesley Island State Park has the largest camping complex in the Thousand Islands region. Secluded wilderness sites nestled along the banks of the St. Lawrence River are accessible only by foot or boat.
Camping
For the less rugged camper, there are regular tent/trailer sites and a cabin colony, including facilities for group camping and twelve vacation rentals, which will enable you to enjoy the sunset from the porch of a fully outfitted cottage.
Cottages
You can choose a two or three bedroom cottage with all the comforts of home, including a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator and stove, bedding, cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, silverware, etc. Outside each vacation rental, a picnic table and ground grill are provided for meals and evening campfires.
Swimming
1. Wellesley Island State Park offers a sandy beach for swimming.
2. Lifeguards are on duty at designated times during the summer season.
3. The park also has an indoor pool open year-round, perfect for colder months or rainy days.
4. Swimming is allowed in marked areas only to ensure safety of visitors.
5. Children must be supervised while swimming; flotation devices recommended for less confident swimmers.

Boating
The park, located in New York, offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is a full-service marina with boat rentals available including rowboats and paddle boats. The area also has several launch sites for personal watercrafts like canoes or kayaks. For those interested in fishing, the waters around are known to be abundant with different species such as bass and pike which makes it popular among anglers who often use their own boats or rent from the marina.
Fishing
Anglers can enjoy fishing in the St. Lawrence River, known for its diverse fish species. The river is home to Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass among others.

Boat rentals are available on-site for those who prefer deep water angling or want a different perspective of their surroundings.

Ice fishing during winter months offers an exciting opportunity to catch Yellow Perch, Walleye, and other cold-water dwellers under unique conditions.

Fishing gear rental services are also provided within the park premises making it convenient even for beginners or travelers without equipment.

Picnicking
Wellesley Island State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills, some overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
Bicycling
Within this beautiful location, cycling enthusiasts can enjoy miles of scenic trails suitable for all skill levels.

The park's terrain offers a mix of flat and hilly paths, providing varied challenges to bikers.

Bicycles are not provided on-site; visitors must bring their own or rent from nearby facilities.

While biking is permitted throughout the area, it's important to stay alert due to shared use with pedestrians and vehicles.

During peak seasons especially summer months - bike traffic may increase significantly so caution should be exercised at all times.

Helmets are strongly recommended while riding within the grounds as safety remains paramount in these settings.

Remember that some areas might have restrictions during certain periods due to wildlife activity or maintenance work.
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities, with over 200 species recorded. It features a variety of habitats including wetlands and forests that attract different types of birds throughout the year. Birdwatchers can spot waterfowl, songbirds, raptors and more during migration seasons or breeding periods. There are also guided tours available for those interested in learning about local avian life.
Area Attractions
Within this rustic paradise, fishing is excellent--particularly for muskie in autumn. To accommodate boaters, the park has a full service marina and four boat launches. A sandy beach on the river offers great swimming and sunbathing and there is a recreation barn and 9-hole golf course on the Island. One of the main attractions of the park is the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, which includes a museum, varied habitats such as wooded wetlands, 3 miles of shoreline and open granite outcrops, and miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing and nature education. The Nature Center provides educational and recreational programs for all ages.

One special feature at the nature center is the 1/4 mile handicapped trail that includes access to picnic tables and the seasonal butterfly house. Archery and muzzle loading are allowed in designated areas by permit only.
