Nestled in 3200 acres of natural beauty, Stone Mountain Park features family-friendly attractions, outdoor recreational activities and a variety of on-site lodging options so you can stay where you play Winter is the perfect time to explore our breathtaking natural areas.
History of the Area
Throughout the years, 7,645,700 cubic feet of granite were removed from the mountain. This is equal to one-foot-long paving stones stretching from the North Pole to the South Pole 12,444 miles

Granite was shipped all over the world. It was used at the federal gold depository at Fort Knox, the Panama Canal, the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, and in the foundation of the Lincoln Memorial, just to name a few. Virtually every state has a building that uses Stone Mountain granite.
Camping
Nestled among 3200 acres of natural beauty just outside of Atlanta, the Stone Mountain Park Campground features over 400 RV, Pop-up, and Tent sites as well as Yurt, Safari Tent, and RV Rentals. Inside the park you'll also find a variety of recreational activities and family-friendly attractions and events available seasonally.

May 18 history is worth keeping by Bernard Eife
park review stars; one to five I was sadden over not seeing the flag of the Confederacy in the museum next to the flag of the North.I became a history lover when I found out my great great grandfather fought for the north and was capture and spent two years in Andersonville This flag was flown over our country and many people died for what the believed in. Many of us forget that the father of our country were consider traitors because we were British and were under there flag. Give the South there due and keep History alive by giving those who fought for what they Believed in, Right or wrong we should not rewrite history . Please installed the confederate Flag back
October 14 The Memorial by Mrs Clay
park review stars; one to five I saw the NEWS tonight and I am just sick and TIRED of NAACP and their desire to remove the FLAGS and Status. This is HISTORY and it is time for this stuff to stop. WE HAVE STATUS ALL OVER GEORGIA with Martin Luther King, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Please TAKE A STAND for the HISTORY. I never knew or heard of any one making it RACIST but THE BLACKS or should I say BLACK LEADERS. Your going to destroy STONE MOUNTAIN if you give in to them. Sad
