CHENANGO VALLEY STATE PARK
Chenango Valley State Park is an ice age wonder. Its two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes, and bog. Birdwatchers may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails and herons, ducks and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Campers can choose from among 216 campsites and 24 cabins and golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course. Ice skating, sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter.

Two lakes, Lily and Chenango, offer fishing opportunities. Species include largemouth bass, chain pickerel, bullhead catfish and various panfish species. Ice fishing is allowed in winter months on both bodies of water. A valid New York State Fishing License is required for all anglers aged 16 or older.

Chenango Valley State Park offers numerous picnic tables, grills and pavilions. Two large beaches are perfect for family picnics.
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 180 species recorded. It features two kettle lakes, wetlands and mixed forests attracting a variety of birds including waterfowl, songbirds and raptors. Birdwatchers can explore the five miles of nature trails or participate in guided tours during spring migration season.

2012 will be our third summer at the park , in a cabin we LOVE it and please remember that the cabin will only be as clean as the person before you left it.If everyone was considerate to the next person it would not be a problem. We are from \canada and this is our hidden secret. We are keeping to ourselves and not telling everyone about the little peace of heaven we have found. 
My family of 5 rented a cabin #7 in August 2011 for a week. We have to spend more than 1 hour to sweep, clean the cabin. The wooden floor was full of dirt and spider webs are everywhere. On the contrary, the park is a very tranquil place with one of the best/clean swimming beaches. The pond is half barren with some fish. Be ware to bring your own heavy duty cleaning supplies including mop & wringer if you have young toddlers.
