Willard Brook was a favored Sunday destination when I was a little girl growing up in Boston. The 50 miles we traveled seemed to take for-e-ver in those days, but the time was so worth it once we arrived. The running water was a big attraction for my brothers, our friends, and me. I think I managed to slip on a rock every time we went there and got soaking wet. A simpler time in our lives.
January 23 My Favorite Massachusetts State Forest by Mary M.
This is one of the most beautiful parks for the brooks that run through it, as well as due to the Park Supervisors and other seasonal staff, who are great people and very visitor-friendly. It is a great place, always changing, from season to season, year to year, for a hike, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, a picnic, camping, or swimming. It is a peaceful, lovely place, very good for families to enjoy nature. Mt. Wataitic (part of the Wapac and Midstate trails)as well as the Nashua River Rail Trail are under the jurisdiction of this State Forest. I could not live without it, as I go there to defuse the stresses in my life and replace them with the beauty and peace of Willard Brook, Trap falls, and Pearl Hill, in particular.
August 24 Very Beautiful by TA
Lots of beautiful spots, some trails are well marked. Signage gets worse, old or non-existent the further you go...some trails not on maps at all. Nice folks working there though...hope some friends group works on getting the trails better marked, trails are well groomed. Swimming areas very nice.
