Wasatch Mountain State Park, in beautiful Heber Valley, is Utah's most developed state park. Tucked away in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, the park is both a summer and winter wonderland. One of Utah's finest 36-hole golf courses is found here and in 2002, we will begin construction on 36 more holes!. There also is camping, picnicking, hiking and horseback riding. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are popular winter activities. And the park is just minutes away from the winter and summer destination resort of Park City, and Heber City and Midway. Park facilities include 139 camping/picnicking areas, two group-use pavilions, modern rest rooms, hot showers and utility hookups. The chalet, a ranch-style building complete with kitchen facilities, is available for summer and winter group outings. Little Deer Creek campground is an excellent area for summer group parties and reunions. Camping is closed during winter months.

Fishing
Enjoy fishing in pristine alpine lakes and streams, home to Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Brown Trout and Brook trout. The park's reservoirs offer excellent ice-fishing during winter months. Fly fishers can test their skills against the elusive Tiger Muskie found in certain areas of the park.

Picnicking
Wasatch Mountain State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables, grills and restrooms. Some sites require reservations in advance.
Bicycling
Mountain biking trails abound, suitable for various skill levels. Be mindful of steep terrains and sudden weather changes.

The "Dutch Hollow" trail system offers a network of paths with varying difficulty. Stay alert to avoid accidents.

For advanced riders, the WOW (Wasatch Over Wasatch) Trail presents challenging climbs and fast descents; caution is advised.

Consider exploring Pine Canyon's scenic routes but be aware that some sections can be quite strenuous due to elevation gain.

Family-friendly options include Phosphate Hill Loop - remember helmets are mandatory for children under 18 years old in Utah.

Riding after dark isn't recommended as wildlife activity increases significantly during these hours.

Always check local regulations regarding seasonal closures or restrictions before setting out on your ride.

Remember: respect nature by staying on marked trails only - this helps prevent erosion damage caused by off-trail riding.

Birding
Birding enthusiasts can spot species like the American Kestrel, Red-tailed Hawk and Northern Flicker.

The park is home to birds such as Mountain Chickadees, Steller's Jays and Western Tanagers.

Rare sightings include Golden Eagles or Peregrine Falcons soaring above.

In winter months, birders may see Bald Eagles or Rough-legged Hawks hunting in open fields.

Spring brings migratory songbirds including Warbling Vireos and Black-headed Grosbeaks.

During summer evenings one might hear Great Horned Owls calling from tree tops.
