September 24 First day of Fall 2015! by Donna
First time visitors and what a beautiful park! We will definitely be back. We drove from Lafayette, In, But we never came across a park employee, no one at the gates to take our entry money? Park was quiet, clean, lots to explore and the shelters were very nice.
May 4 great fun
So much fun
February 23 I love camping here. by Ashley
I loe to camp here. My family and I come every other weekend, expect in winter. There are a few things that need changed, but other than that the park is great. It is a great place to camp, fish, hike, bike, and hang out with family or friends. Very safe and fun!! Very Clean!
November 26 Hiking VSP by jeffcrvn
Hiking the Hiking and Mountain Bike Trails at VSP: Hike #1: My first hike at VSP started at the Mountain Bike Trail Head and went North on Turtle Loop (#5). This trail becomes Creekside Loop (#3) at Laughery Creek and winds its way North to Northwest along the creek with changes in elevation to 300 ft or so. It then turns West and becomes Grandview Loop (#1) which eventually turns south and turns into Center Loop (#2). Center Loop turns into Cliffside (#4) and travels south. It connects with Shadow Run Loop (#6) and leads back to the trailhead. This loop all together covers about a half of the 15.1 miles of Mountain Bike Trails in the park and took me approximately 3.5 hours with two 10 minute breaks for water and snacks. Lots of rolling hills of what is designated as a easy to difficult trail. The difficult parts are the Grandview and Clifside Trails. I am sure they would be tough on a mountain bike, but were fairly simple on foot. Try this hike sometime. I was a blast. I ran into about a dozen bikers who were all keen to share the trail. Happy tails.
August 24 Love this Park! by C, V, C, and B...
We have camped here twice so far this year and plan on going one more time in the fall. The space in most campsites is great. The family atmosphere is terrific. Our son has had a great time every time we have been here. The staff is friendly and the entire park was clean and beautiful! Thank You
June 9 Very disappointed by Steve
We reserved June 8th & 9th. Upon first appearance the campground was very nice. The surprises started soon as we parked. The site we reserved was suppose to have water but it appears none of the sites have water. The only water available in our area was from the bath house showers. The closest water access was on the other side of our area. The rest rooms had no soap or toilet paper. The group across had several barking dogs (all night) & were drunk and loud into the early morning. After 5 pm I did not observe any staff or rangers patrolling the area. Things started the same way in the morning and we left was noon. I would not recommend this camp group to anyone.
December 28 Be careful during Nov-Feb by Afton Judy
The park does not post any signs warning visitors of steel traps set during the trapping season. Children and dog walkers be aware of traps set near campground creeks!
October 23 Great first impression with one snag by Klw1224
Camped in electric site B. As first-timers, enjoyed the room the park offers for the sites. The trails were perfect for novice to experienced hikers of all ages. Yes, there are no horses for campers to ride, pool was closed for season, and electricity was turned off (I will get to that). We took the kids and the grandparents on an hour hike on trails 2 and 3. This state park gives you reasons to explore. Bring your bikes and prepare to be pleased. One caution: They will never admit this, but the park has to save money with cutbacks in attractions so they have to charge when they can. Prepare to have your electricity shut off during peak times of the year. The regulars say it happens all the time. They say it is outside the park but I visited many businesses to find our if they get ruling brownouts with the park and they laugh just like the regular campers. Called the our company and they laughed too, so if you get the idea. Please conserve energy when you can is the message, so explore indiana like its meant to be seen.
October 18 So much fun!
We came in September and camped with another family. Our kids had so much fun and so did the adults. Our campsite was so spacious we could set up cornhole and wiffle ball at the same time and not be too close to the fire. It was great!
October 9 Nice long hike along the Grandview trail by 5goldenrings
We hiked the Grandview mountain biking trail starting out at the Schimmerhorn Shelter area. It was a well constructed and maintained trail. We did not meet any other hikers but there were many mountain bikers out. We all shared the space with mutual gratefulness that we had such a great trail to enjoy on this beautiful fall day!
September 1 Great place to get away by lilhoss3
The crappie fishing was great this past spring not to mention the bass fishing has not been to bad. I only live ten miles from the lake and it is a great place to go and relax. The scenery is great and not to mention there are a few Bald Eagles that can be seen if you know where to go. The wildlife is abundant and fishing is great if you catch it at the right time. I would recomend this state park to anyone. So, go and see it even if it only for a day you will have a great time being outdoors.
July 20 block coolers from racoons... by TBabydoll&Family
Love this park, but it seems to be going down hill. The horse barn closed, no events go on in camp ground, also not very good fishing.Would love to see changes in these areas, it would draw in more people and let the regulars enjoy our time more. I also think if you camp you should swim for free or discounted. You have to pay to get in park, pay to camp, and pay to get in pool. All this money should help to have more fish and have horses to ride, and may be to organize a corn-hole tournament in camp ground.Hopefully will get better, we love coming here, would love-love more if changes are made.
July 19 Fishing is ok by Damon
They need to drain and dredge the lake. It is very shallow and full of debris. They no longer have paddle boats and part of the lake when it is dry like this you can walk across the dried mud pretty soon it will only be mud with streams trickeling through.
July 14 Ups and Downs by Tavis
The park is good for a weekend trip with the family. The only problem i have is that, one day me and my friends were walking on one of the bike trails and got lost and ended up in MILAN! It took 5 hours took get back to the camper. They need to fix the trails.
July 5 by JOHN FROM OHIO
THE FAMILY WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT THE HORSES AND THE PADDLE BOATS WERE GONE. CAMPING IS ALWAYS NICE IN INDIANA, BROWN CO. AND CLIFTY FALLS.
October 23 one complaint
The only complaint i have is that i was dropping camper off for my wife & still got charged. Was there for 15 minutes, & explained this to person at the gate. I go there 4 or 5 times a year, and other indiana state parks all summer long, but this kind of left me with a bad feeling.
October 14 Great Memories by Roger Messer
I have been camping at Versailles since 1981 as a kid with my parents. I now take my family there for the same. It has always been well kept and an overall great place to relax.
August 8 Great place to relax! by KY Camper
This is a great place with almost all the the sites being nice and level.
July 26 My husband survived!!! by H&S Mama
My husband was in the triathalon on 7/24. He had a great time. Thanks Versailles, for hosting a very cool event like this. We love the campground and the sites are very large and the park is very family friendly. Thanks again.
July 23 is happy to pay to get in!! by Mary C.
this park is BEAUTIFUL! we drove 1 1/2 hours to visit..I am happy to pay to get into a state park just to have it well kept and clean! our family enjoyed ourselves and will be returning! thank you Indiana for keeping your parks clean!
June 30 Great overall experience!
Took my wife and kids camping this week and when I asked them how this vacation fared, they all rated it over international vacations as well as vacations to some top vacation sites here in the states...they loved the camp ground and the pool! Kids are 7&9.
June 14 A family tradition! by Jessica Lynn Day
My husband&I have been taking our four kids camping here for the last seven years twice a year! We go in June&September while Friendship, IN. has their 10 day long flea market. We love the pool and taking our kids out on the boats! It is a family tradition that we hope will continue to go on even when we become grandparents =) Thank you for the memories!
June 13 POOL CLOSED!! HORSES GONE!!! by Katykle
Been a whiles since we camped at Versailles..Brought my 2 nephews up for a few days to swim, horse back ride and camp..My husband got here before me set the camper up and settled in. Found out after I arrived the pool was closed for 2 weeks only opened on weekends and they no longer have horses here. I would of left but he have everything set up. Really disaapointed in the cuts I see in Indiana Parks. With the way things are really a shame the State of Indiana is making cuts in the parks....
June 2 Our new FAVORITE place to camp! by mommieoftwinboyz
My husband and I have just started taking our 5 year old twin boys camping. We were hoping to find a place that we would like to keep going back to, so that we could start a familiar tradition with our boys. Versailles State Park was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for us! The campsite that we got was directly across from the bathrooms and showers and it was so peaceful and quiet. There was a playground for the kids without short walking distance. The land was incredibly beautiful and the park employees were extremely friendly and helpful. We had to drive an hour to get there, but it was totally worth it! We will definitely keep going back to Versailles!

August 19 Dear To Much by Happy Camper
We visited Versailles state park 8/18/09. We wanted to check out the park to see if it was something we would be interested staying in.We had to check in like everyone else. We told them we would only be staying long enough to check out the campground and find sites we would like to stay at. We did not have to pay the $7.00 charge you are talking about. It was mentioned, however I ask what the $7.00 was for and that I would only be a few minutes and they let me on in without paying. We have to speak up. No one should have to pay a fee for looking. What a beautiful place it was. Hopefully I can now get the site we picked out booked.
July 10 great fishing by Greg

August 27 Fantastic Family Park by Fairfield Ohio
Congrats Indiana on having one of the best camgrounds/parks ever. We had a great time at this park. Very clean park and bathrooms. Friendly staff. We went to the pool (Great slide and high dive), went paddle boating, visited the nature center, and hiked on the trails. We stayed at the campground in a pop up. The sights were very large. We will go back. It is a short drive from Fairfield, Ohio.

July 1 A wonderful relaxing Place by Helton23
We went as a family, a huge family of like 20 and everyone had a blast, we fished, we swam, we rode horses, camped, hiked and so much more. We had visits from raccoons as we slept and a crane while we were paddle boating. Truly amazing.
June 27 by Too Much
The park was beautiful, but the fact that you had to pay an entrance fee of $7.00 per vehicle just to drive through to see the park and then a camping fee was crazy. I think you should not have to pay the $7.00 fee if you are camping.
June 27 best place ever by dylan
