October 11 When In Ashe County.. by PeggyC
Views from Mt Jefferson are breathtaking - even when one is half-way up and it starts to snow. This is a must for us when we visit Ashe County .. sometimes we meet no one - but recently [Oct 2015] we met several wonderful souls - enjoying the mountain air and the views!

January 16 My favorite state park. by Margaret Horn
Unusual plants and fascinating history. It would be an incredible shame if it closed, and a huge loss to the county, in terms of both economical and recreational benefits.

Mt. Jefferson State Park overlooks the charming small town of West Jefferson. Very nice article and information on Mt. Jefferson, however Boone is 30 miles away.
