It?s easy to see why this is one of Georgia?s most popular state parks. Amicalola, a Cherokee Indian word meaning ?tumbling waters,? is an appropriate name for these 729-foot falls ? the tallest east of the Mississippi River. An eight-mile approach trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the 2,135-mile Appalachian Trail. However, numerous other trails are available for shorter journeys. A beautiful lodge is popular with guests who prefer hotel-type comforts over cottages and camping, while a 5-mile hike leads to more remote accommodations at the Len Foote Hike Inn. Be sure to stop by the park office to see nature displays, live exhibits and a gift shop.

Location
Amicalola Falls State Park is located near Ball Ground, Blue Ridge and Dahlonega

October 19 Best Hike Ever by wmabbott
park review stars; one to five My wife and I just did the 5 mile hike to the Hike Len Foote Inn. It was great, we enjoyed it as much as our recent trip to the Grand Cayon. Great views, wonderful staff, and a moderate hike. We are in our early 60s and found most people hiking there were near our age group (40s to late 60s ). We had no problem doing it in about 4 hours. Everyone was very friendly and the food was great. We recommend it to everyone.

park review stars; one to five This was one of the best campgrounds that I have visited in my life. I have traveled all over the world and this has been definitly one of the best places we have tented. Amazing waterfall that you can actually touch and so may beautiful activities that you can experience. I would recomend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice and quiet place to just sit back and relax the loving nature. There are other places you can stay at such as the log if you are not the type to tent.
