Ames Nowell is a year-round day use area with recreational activity centered around Cleveland Pond which is popular with boaters and fisherman. Development includes a picnic area, ball field and several miles of trails along the pond edge and the surrounding woods.
Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. The centerpiece is Cleveland Pond, which allows non-motorized boats such as canoes and kayaks. There are also several fishing spots available around the pond where you may see people casting lines from their rowboats or paddleboards. However, there aren't any boat rental services within the park so guests must bring their own equipment.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing at a beautiful 100-acre pond, home to largemouth bass and pickerel. Also find yellow perch and sunfish.

Picnicking
Ames Nowell State Park offers picnic areas with grills, tables and restrooms. Fishing is allowed in Cleveland Pond nearby.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can explore miles of trails, suitable for various skill levels. Be aware that some paths are challenging.

Mountain biking is popular here due to the park's diverse terrain and scenic views. Always wear a helmet.

The area offers both paved roads and off-road tracks, providing options for different types of cyclists. Stay alert on uneven surfaces.

While cycling through dense forests or around Cleveland Pond, remember wildlife may cross your path unexpectedly - stay vigilant!

Some areas might be shared with hikers so always maintain a safe speed while riding in these sections to avoid accidents.

During wet weather conditions, certain routes could become slippery; it's advisable not to bike during such times.

Remember: safety first! Ensure you have all necessary equipment before embarking on any ride within this beautiful location.
